I think that’s about all this photo tends to show does it not? 🙂
I just love these richly colored hummingbirds and the purple on this little ones throat and head were dazzling!
Nice photo. I haven’t managed to capture a hummingbird “on film” yet.
Thank you so much! 🙂
I have spent about a year trying to capture these little birds displaying their red and/or purple colors but had had always been too far away or at the wrong angle to capture those colors until just yesterday when a little luck came my way and was able to capture both a red throat, and a violet throat hummer at the feeder. Still was a difficult task for me since the lens I used to get this close is restricted to manual focus on my camera.
What a beauty!
Thanks so much MK! I failed to get a crisp shot of the entire bird thus far (without his beak dipped in the feeder) but hopefully tomorrow will bring better luck. However, I felt I just had to share the amazing display of purple/violet this beauty had going, no matter what angle or what part the bird may have been missing from the frame. I was able to capture the full red throat hummer though, of which I will be posting soon.
Yes, those little birds are quite a challenge. I can’t get close enough without a zoom. I have lots of hummers in/around my front porch, so sometimes I just sit on the lounge chair with my camera & a beer (that’s my excuse) and wait. Hmmmm, maybe that contributes to camera shake?
Hahaha! I dunno if that contributes to camera shake (although operating anything larger than a camera phone may be a challenge if one hand is on the beer) but it does certainly sound like a fine idea while waiting to get a shot of the little guys!
